Today our churches and ministries are experiencing  only trickles of God’s glory. Here are 5 ways to seek God and manifest His Glory.

I like what the Message Version of the Bible says in Jeremiah 29:13-14,

When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than else. I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed. God’s Decree.

God is seeking for someone who is in a relentless pursuit of Him. Well, it doesn’t mean that God is playing hide and seek with us. In fact He is waiting to be caught by someone who is hungry for Him.

But the question really is how intentionally are we seeking His heart?

Or, how do we seek Him?

Here is what Proverbs 2: 1-5 says:

My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

God is desperate to reveal Himself to you

Look at how this chapter starts – God addresses you as ‘My Son’.

Not just son, but MY son.

So know that even before you start seeking God, He is the father who is waiting to reveal all that He is to his sons and daughters.

Once you know this, here is how you go about seeking God:

1. Accept my words

We start this journey by walking in faith and by accepting what He has already given to us- His matchless Word! Jesus says blessed are those who believe without seeing me (John 20:29).

2.  Store up my command within you

Storing means keeping a lot of something that one can use later. Storing is not a day’s job, but it is constantly doing it, day after day. Start by filling your heart with His Word day after day. Read it, write it, memorise it, talk about it, meditate upon it, so it gets stored in your heart.

3. Turn your ear to wisdom

You got to shift focus from what or whom you are listening to. The voice of the Holy Spirit needs to take prominence in your life, more than anything else.

4. Applying your heart to understanding

You are not just to hear, but impress what you hear upon your heart.

5. Look for it as silver and search for it as hidden treasure

What will your response be if someone told you that there is a pot of treasure hidden in your house, that can supply all your needs for your lifetime? You will search for it like a mad man and rest not till you find it. I pray that the same hunger and thirst we will have for God. Without His presence, we are bankrupt!

Throughout the Bible we see how God poured out His glory upon people who were broken, imperfect, fallen..yet they had this in common – they were willing to seek God above everything else. What our churches and ministries are experiencing today are only trickles of God’s glory whereas we believe with all our heart that greater things are to come.

Come, let’s seek God!
